John Carter Brown Library - Colombia Collection

The John Carter Brown Library holds more books printed in Colombia prior to 1810 than any library in the world, some held nowhere else, and otherwise unknown to bibliographers. Among them is the only known complete copy of Saverien's Historia de las ciencias naturales, printed in Bogota in 1791, whose existence illustrates the broad spread of Enlightenment ideas throughout the Spanish Empire.
